Five years ago, on September 4th, 2013, after four grueling months of administrative and physical work we opened our little piece of Gemütlichkeit and called it Dacha. We shoveled gravel and toiled over details up until the very last moment before the first customers arrived. In the next 5 years, Dacha made headlines and transformed the corner of 7th & Q. A multitude of DC dwellers quickly learned how to forgo their mobile devices in favor of a real conversation. And Liz, with her gorgeous eyes, began to bless a myriad of unforgettable moments: marriage proposals, new and lasting friendships, the cutest beer garden baby – our dearest Auggie McMahon - real hopes and dreams for our beloved US Soccer team in the World Cup 2014, true celebration of love and equality in June of 2015, an authentic sense of support and camaraderie when we lost the 2016 election, resolve and hope when women marched in 2017, an unforgettable Capitals' victory in 2018, and many more.
